At the beginning of December, Neil started to complain about numbness going down his arm and sometimes painful. While in Yuma, we established a primary care doctor, who referred Neil for an MRI, which confirmed he has part of his spinal cord is beginning to be compressed and he needs to see a surgeon. There is only 1 surgeon in Yuma, and his waitlist is 3 months out. My mother in law just happens to live in the Phoenix area and referred us to her surgeon, who just happens to take our insurance. I was able to make us a reservation via Thousand Trails at the Mesa Spirit RV which is an Encore park.  Mesa Spirit RV park is HUGE! This is mostly a mobile home park with RV sites in between. Unfortunately most RV sites are so narrow, so backing our 44ft 5th wheel in was a challenge. It took Neil in the back, and 2 camp workers guiding and watching both sides.   A fter spending 6 weeks in Yuma for Neil's Cataract surgery, we are happy to be on the road again.  We are staying at the Dateland RV Park in Dateland, AZ. When booking this park, it showed amazing pictures of the Date Farm and how you can stay in the RV park next to the farm. LOL Not even close! This is not a town. This is a gas stop. To register for the park, you have to park the rv across the street in the abandoned building parking lot or the Date farm parking and then register with the person at the gas station counter. We are then provided a map on how to get to the park and   choose your own site. We left the parking lot and headed across the street down a dirt, very bumpy, large pot holed road to where the rv park is. There is dirt, dirt, and more dirt. The sites are spacious and had FHU with 50 AMP for $19/nt; The price was so worth it!  After our 1st stay here at Yuma Lakes 2 weeks prior, Neil had his consultation with the Ophthalmologist to evaluate his right eye cataract. We knew he needed surgery, just did not expect it to happen so fast. Well I did, because of being an ophthalmology nurse for 31 years. Our stay at Yuma lakes was coming to an end and needed to figure out how to stay in Yuma for another month without going broke on park fees.  We decided to try the Thousand trails membership (TT).  We initially purchased the basic plan and chose which section we would be traveling in the most. We then decided to purchases the trails collection plan that opened up many more parks to us. The total cost was about $1000. I booked us at our 1st TT park, called Mesa Verde. We definitely were not used to this kind of park. It is a mobile home park with RV sites in between.
