RV Washer and Dryer water pump failure (12/12/20) Blog post 135
When we were about to start our RV journey, the one thing I knew I wanted for sure, was a Washer and Dryer. There are not that many brands out there for RV's that would fit in our 5th wheel. We decided on the LG all in one ventless brand.
I placed a sandy-dirty towel in the washing machine. Sometime during that cycle the water pump started making a very strange noise. My husband knew immediately that the sound was the water pump.
After a little research, he learned that water pump failures are common when sandy or gritty dirty items are placed in the unit. He also learned that the LG company designed the water pump up front, whereas other brands put it in the back, requiring the unit to be removed to replace water pump. The next great thing he learned was that we could still use the W/D even though the water pump was not working. We just had to be home when doing laundry. We were able to empty the drum at the right time, using the manual drain tube, which also was placed up front. The next great thing he learned was that the water pump was only $28 on Amazon and very easy to replace. He ordered 2, just so we have it on hand if there is ever a next time.
Of course, it would be few weeks before we were to be at an RV park long enough to get the new pump delivered. We were so happy when the new pump arrived.
