Brantley Lake and Sitting Bulls Falls in Carlsbad, New Mexico (12/5/20 to 12/8/20) Blog post 133
After leaving Bandera, Texas, we headed to Sonora, Texas for 2 days. We then headed to Fort Stockton for another 2 days, before arriving at the Carlsbad KOA, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We took a bike ride to Brantley Lake, or what is left. We had once again found ourselves looking for a lake that was slowly disappearing. We came across an area where, very sulphuric smelling water was being fed to the lake. We continued to ride until we ran out of land. I wanted to feel the water, but as I approached started sinking, but Neil was able to get close enough and while he was there he saw many imprints from different animal feet.
On our next day out, we took a 1 hour drive to the Sitting Bull Falls in Carlsbad, NM. We were the only visitors in the park. We had the whole falls area to ourselves, with the exception of Park Ranger painting the handrail, and the very nice couple who were the park hosts, who provided us with information on how to pay for visiting The area was so nice and clean. There is a charge to visit the park, but there was no charge if we provided our National parks pass number on the pay envelopes.
Where Neil is touching; You can see many animal imprints in the clear water
