Bandera Texas: Bandera Lake, Deer, Deer, and so many more Deer; Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas (11/24 to 12/1/20) Blog post 132

After leaving San Antonio, Texas, we headed to Bandera, Texas to the Holiday Villages of Medina RV Park. The Rv park is a very small section within the Huge mobile home park. When we checked in at the main gain and were given instructions/directions on how to get to the Rv park. When we arrived at the turn to the park, the park hosts greeted us and guided us to our site. A $20 deposit was required to be given a gate key that would be refunded when we leave. We were also told that the park is home to many deer that can be seen all day long.  We were given permission to throw corn out for them; so Neil put corn everywhere, and before we knew it we had deer. Not one, not two, but so many it was hard to count. The deer turned out to be our daily source of entertainment.

We rode our bikes around the park, and then went looking for Bandera Lake. We found what used to be the boat ramp to the lake. We rode our bike down the ramp for about 1-2 miles until we came to an area where there were cows grazing and then a bit further we could see some water, but could not access it. We learned from a man leaving as we were entering the now dry lake, that the farmers bought all the water, thus now a dry lake bed, and land for the grazing cows.

This year is going to be our first Thanksgiving and Christmas without any family. Due to the pandemic and the rising number of deaths, and so many new covid strains, we decided not to go home for the holidays. It was such a hard decision to make, and many of family do not understand our reasons.

Our Neighbor threw corn every morning for the deer and within minutes, the deer were everywhere.
