Tire issues and Les Schwab (6/5/20) Blog post 77
For several weeks, I have been noticing as soon as I reach 55 mps- 60mph the steering wheel starts shuttering until I get above 60mph. The last couple places we have been have not had any tire stores near by. There is a Les Schwab within 10 miles of the Cascade meadow Rv park where we are staying. We scheduled an appointment to have the tires balanced and rotated.
Right after leaving Les Schwab, I got on the freeway and tested out the new balance. Wow I could already tell a difference. No more shuttering. When we got back to the rv park, Neil noticed a bubble on one of the front tires that got moved to the back. We decided to just replace the two back tires, discarding the bad tire and having the remaining good tire replace the spare, which is old and cracked.
We got back to RV park, and Neil was about to install our new rock tamers when he noticed that Les Schwab put the bad tire with bubble as our spare.
I immediately called Les Schwab and explained what happened. The lady read the service paperwork that indicated to put the "good tire in replace of spare". I was called back by the manager who informed us that the person who worked on our truck is not in the office and they have no idea where our tire is. He spoke with Neil, who was able to inform the manager exactly what tire make and model our tire were. They offered a used tire similar to ours, which Neil politely declined. We received a call the next morning that our tire had been located. We went back later that morning.
When our truck was finished, the young lady who brought it out, apologized to us and explained that it was her that made the initial mistake. She said that she replaced the bad tire with the other tire.
When we got back to the RV park, I told Neil that the spare tire is swinging from under the truck. Neil was able to figure out that the tire was never lifted all the way up and fixed it.
I was upset that we have had one problem after another, I called and asked to speak to the General manager. I told him all of our issues we had encountered and how we have had to come back 2 additional times. I told him that I noticed everyone rushing and running to get to the next vehicle. This is when mistakes happen, and apprarently twice with us and the same attendant.
Fortunately since then, we have had not further issues.
