RV Shopping just as stressful as buying a car (9/1/19) Blog post 4
We weren't wasting anytime making our dream a reality. The day after we bought our 2013 Ram, we went RV shopping. We first went to Giant RV. We were shown several different 5th wheels, but nothing screamed aha, until the very last RV he showed us was a toyhauler / with deck. When we went to tell our salesman that we would like to discuss possible sale, he informed us that another family just put deposit.
We were not interested in any other floorplans that Giant RV had to offer, so we headed down the freeway to DDRV. The salesman took us around showing us a variety of different 5th wheels. I fell in love with the 2019 Heartland Big Country 3806 RKD model.
This model stood out from others in that, the kitchen is at the rear of the RV. When you enter the RV you go left into the huge living room, or right up the stairs to bedroom and bathroom. Through the living room is a dinette and a nice size kitchen with lots of cabinets, stove, convection microwave and commercial refridgerator.
When we sat down with a different salesman to discuss purschasing, we were quoted $10,000 more than what it was being advertised for. We ended up walking away because they were not willing to stand by the advertised price.
Very disappointed, we drove all the way home (2 1/2 hours). Several days later, Neil forwarded me an email from a saleman from Jeff Couch's RV in Ohio. They have 2 identical models for $10,000 less than DDRV's advertised price.
We negoitiated everything on phone and via emails. We paid for the 5th wheel to be driven from Ohio to our home in Los Angeles.
Wow We did it, we purchased our 5th wheel. 3 weeks to delivery!
