Home inspectors! Blog post 13

Our realtor had advised us not be at home during the home inspection. She said, that it is usually very difficult for the sellers to hear what the inspectors are saying negative about the home. We explained that we have 3 golden retrievers that will be at home, but are not any bother. Fortunately I only worked 1/2 day that day. I recieved a call from Neil that something is wrong with our oldest dog, Casey. He can see from our home security cameras that she is scared and freaked out from something. I was only a few minutes out.

When I arrived I found 3 realtors, the buyers of the house and 2 inspectors. I found poor Casey inside the house trying to find a place to hide.

I asked everyone there, WHY IS MY DOG SO FREAKED OUT? I was informed that she started to freak out when the carbon monoxide poisoning detectors were set off, which I completely understood, because she freaks out when the low battery sound starts to beep, or from Thunder and lightning.

While there, I was also informed that the inspector states that the roof is in dire need of being replaced, the pool light does not work and does not have a properly GFI connection and can start a fire. There are attic fans and ducting just sitting up in the attic that needs to be removed.

I was so angry from what was said and transpired. After they left, I went into the kitchen and noticed that they broke a cabinet covering. Our realtor came back immediately after my phone call to take pictures of the damage.

The first question my realtor asked was "The inspector should have noticed that this is not a drawer, just a covering. You can see there the sink there"

We were then informed that we need to remove all the ducting and ducting pans in the attic. It took multiple emails to finally get them to understand that when the house was built is had that kind of ducting installed. It is not just sitting up there, it is installed up there.

The roof needing to be replaced. The roof was replaced right before we bought the house. We have had not leaks or issues of any kind!
